BRITISH - PERUVIAN, ARTIST & SCULPTOR
Hello! I'm Heather, an artist who is currently exploring herbology - the study and use of natural herbs, plants, and botanical knowledge.
Our environment and its materials have always been central to my work and since 2019 I have been increasingly looking at plants for inspiration. This has also encouraged me to experiment more with gardening organically, and in 2021 I was delighted that a herb that I grew called Dipsacus laciniatus was officially registered and acknowledged by the Guinness World Records as being one of the tallest specimens of that year.
My ongoing herbology research is carried out in my allotment and at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. My artistic practice continues to be mainly sculptural in approach but now includes other techniques such as drawing and watercolour painting.
I have a fine arts degree from Goldsmiths College and an MSc from the University of Edinburgh. I have also previously studied in Lima and Madrid. At present I live in south east London where I create my work in my garden studio.
